Now then
Every voice in the house.
Aviary Radio is a small radio house that makes narrated audio. Stories first, bedtime at the centre, and readings, serials and shows for the grown-ups still awake at the end of it.
Everything is made in our studio, read by one of our narrators, checked by a person, and released on a schedule. Names are said the way their owners say them.
What the app does
-
A free shelf worth having
There is always something to listen to without paying, and the free shelf keeps changing. The player is the same one members get: nothing is held back to make free feel thin.
-
Everyone keeps their own place
Each listener in the house has their own profile, their own queue and their own shelves, and every title waits where they left it.
-
A sleep timer that fades
Set it and the sound fades out rather than stopping dead, so nobody is woken by the silence at the end.
-
Keep titles on the device
Members can download the titles they choose for journeys without a signal. You pick what to keep, and it stays until you remove it.
-
The grown-ups' side stays shut
A four-digit PIN keeps membership, downloads and account settings behind the grown-ups, while the children's profiles carry on as usual.
How an evening goes
Pick a listener, pick a title, and put the phone down. Playback keeps going with the screen off, the sleep timer fades the sound out rather than cutting it, and the place you reached is waiting the next night. Each profile in the house has its own queue and its own shelves, and a four-digit PIN keeps the grown-ups' side to the grown-ups.
Members can keep titles on the device for journeys without a signal. The free shelf is open to everybody, always.
Membership
The whole house, for the price of a paperback a month.
